Hot Air Balloons The Magic Of Paradise! Take the plunge and embark on a magical journey of sheer paradise in a beautifully created inflatable hot air balloon, these aerial views are truly to die for, skipping tree tops, flying so close to nature, a truly breathtaking experience, so where does the journey begin? And how do we become a part of the inflatable hot air balloon paradise? Follow this journey and all will be revealed. The history of hot air ballooning dates back to the 17th century, and were first invented in France, now that truly was a long time ago, the fuel which was used was hydrogen, but this type of fuel is far too expensive at present, helium and hydrogen gases are mainly used for longer journeys, however for the individual enthusiast this is not cost effective, a more practical and economic method is to use propane gas, which comes in cylinders, and is at a faction of the cost compared to its cousins. To be able to fly a hot air balloon, most countries do require a pilot’s licence, it is well documented that in order to fly these crafts in the United Kingdom, it requires no less then sixteen hours of pilot training, which is with a qualified pilot, after that period a minimum of four flights are taken with a qualified instructor, who will then recommend that a general flight test be taken. There are also five ground exams, which also need to be undertaken which consists of UK law, meteorology, navigation, the practical workings of a hot air balloon, and finally human performance. Hot air balloons can be purchased either used or brand new, a second hand hot air balloon in good condition will cost between five and eight thousand pounds, whereas the cost of a brand new hot air balloon is between fifteen and twenty thousand pounds all dependant on the amazing shapes, sizes, colours and obviously the size. Hot air balloons are mainly made to carry between two and four passengers, however, hot air balloons are also constructed to carry a single person or up to 40 passengers. Hot air balloons come in kit form, which is a kit of parts, the main components are the basket, burner and balloon which is better known as the envelope, storing these items is not deemed difficult, as one could store the kit in a garage or outbuilding, however when storing the propane gas, great care must be taken for obvious reasons. Setting up a hot air balloon is not necessarily difficult, (much easier with two people) enthusiasts can normally set up a hot air balloon in approx ten to fifteen minutes, and be air bound within half an hour, the most awkward part is deemed as the envelope due to its sheer size, however the envelope is placed on the ground fully opened, then it is filled with cold air by an inflation fan, once this is complete the propane gas is used for takeoff. High up in the air in your hot air balloon, drifting with the air currents, there appears to be a genuine feeling of peacefulness, just something so magical and uplifting that this experience must be experienced at least once in a lifetime, so for an unforgettable and breathtaking aerial adventure, whether it be over the plains of Africa, above the Grand Canyons, the lights of Las Vegas, or the country sides of the United Kingdom, just don’t forget your camera with plenty of extra film, video camera, champagne or your favourite tipple, and finally not forgetting that special person in your life, as hot air ballooning is also associated with romance. Warmest wishes for all the pleasures when hot air ballooning for this truly unique and magical thrill. |
